Esmeralda is a catamaran boat that provides a unique sailing experience in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. The boat is landed in San Juan del Sur, Rivas, a town on Nicaragua’s southwest coast.
San Juan del Sur is known for a string of nearby Pacific beaches such as Isla Anciana, Playa Blanca, Brasilito, Playa Trebol, Maderas, Marsella, and others, as well as being currently considered; the “Mecca of Surfing.”
Nicaragua has a very tropical climate with two distinct seasons: a wet season and a dry season resulting from being located in a very humid area between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Isla Anciana – Guacalito
Isla Anciana is located two hours from San Juan del Sur, eight nautical miles north. It is known for the biodiversity of migratory and perennial birds in the area. If you are adventurous, you can get off the boat and take a tour of the island. It is located in front of Guacalito de La Isla, a beach that has more than four miles of beach in the South of Nicaragua, with extraordinarily diverse topography.
Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is one hour from San Juan del Sur, four nautical miles north. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in San Juan del Sur, and can only be reached by boat. It is named for the color of its sand, as it is one of the few beaches in the Pacific with white sand and crystal clear water.
Playa Brasilito
Playa Brasilito is located two hours from San Juan del Sur, eight nautical miles south. More specifically, it is located between Playa el Coco and Playa La flor. The tour to Playa Brasilito means sighting of turtles since these are the areas of Nicaragua where turtles appear annually to lay their eggs, the strongest months being June to September.
Playa Trébol
Playa Trebol is named after the shape of three beaches that form a Clover Flower from an aerial view. It is located two and a half hours from San Juan del Sur, 10 nautical miles south, and just a few minutes from the border with Costa Rica.
